You’re gonna find something(s) you can’t live without, but remember that not every store will bring in every thing, and even if they could, most of these are limited so check with your local stores and strike up a conversation. Let them know what you’re dying to get your hands on!

Transmediale 10 is focussing on ‘Futurity Now’, while it’s sister festival Club Transmediale, dedicated to contemporary electronic, digital and experimental music, will explore ‘Overlap – Sound and other media’.

‘OVERLAP’ will be concerned with interfaces between music and other creative and economic fields and takes a critical look at the opportunities and risks of developments where media and creative disciplines meld increasingly together, and where previously fixed roles are now in flux.

‘FUTURITY NOW’ is understood as a concept that examines what the ‘future’ as a conditional and creative enterprise can be, that also connotes the will to counter political and economic turmoil with visionary futures. Transmediale 10 will especially explore what roles internet evolution, global network practice, open source methodologies, sustainable design and mobile technology play in forming new cultural, ideological and political templates.

Bothe events always offer a lot of interesting things, panel discussions with renowned theorists as well as excellent musical line-ups. So if you happen to be in Berlin, definitely check out the Festival Programme for Transmediale and Club Transmediale and move your brain and booty :)

One of his predominant topics as well as a constant source of inspiration is music: ‚It’s the rhythm of my life, and my life is the rhythm of my music. Before I start drawing an illustration, I put my headphones on and choose a playlist which matches my mood. Then I try to translate feelings into images’ (Cuypi).

The exhibition at West Berlin Gallery will show a broad overview of Cuypi’s artistic expression, including digital prints on canvas, shirts, toys and skateboards. The opening will take place on Wednesday, December 16th, starting 19:00. Come around and see some cool music-inspired designs, enjoy Massimiliano Pagliara playing straight vinyl and have some decent drinks! For the bar West Berlin Gallery will have the friendly support of Becks who will provide you with fresh and free beer. Of course you can also cop the VKMP3-Shirts at the gallery, so why not come around to get the last christmas presents? ;)

Hard Wax turns 20! One of the institutions in Berlin’s music and club scene, Hard Wax is also known worldwide as one of the best recordstores when it comes to techno and other kinds of electronic music.

Opened by Mark Ernestus 1989 in a backyard in Kreuzberg SO36 as supplier for the growing house and techno scene in Berlin, today it can be called kind of a mecca for international techno fiends. For years it was even the only shop in Berlin specialized in House and Techno. Particularly with direct imports from Chicago, Detroit, New York and London, Hard Wax laid foundations for the development of electronic club music in Berlin and Germany. Not to rest on its merits, the shop always continued to pursue the cutting edge, seeking out new interesting niches within and outside of electronic club music. Hard Wax also stocks a significant amount of vinyl you can find nowhere else, racks upon racks of music spanning everything from Detroit Techno, Neo-Techno, Minimal, Dubstep to Disco.

To celebrate it’s birthday Hard Wax teamed up with WMF – a legend of Berlin clublife itself, after years and uncountable locations still fresh and always up to di time. On Saturday, 5th December, the party will take place on all 3 floors, starting at 20:00 (yes, you are right, that’s definitely uncommon for Berlin…). The line-up represents different facets of the Hard Wax spectrum and consists mostly of staff as well as closely associated labels.
