Music lovers can now be immortalised when they die by having their ashes baked into vinyl records to leave behind for loved ones.
A UK company called And Vinyly is offering people the chance to press their ashes in a vinyl recording of their own voice, their favourite tunes or their last will and testament. Minimalist audiophiles might want to go for the simple option of having no tunes or voiceover, and simply pressing the ashes into the vinyl to result in pops and crackles.
The company was founded by Jason Leach, who co-founded the techno group and record label Subhead in the 1990s and has since founded a number of other labels, including House of Fix, Daftwerk and Death to Vinyl. Read more

Next Sarturday, 2010 April 17th is Record Store Day! As we head closer to the big day, I wanted to give you some highlights:
* There are brand new Record Store Day 2010 t-shirts and a commemorative poster available at www.recordstoreday.com. The shirts are a pretty, calming blue-purple-grayish thing for the men and ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb red for the ladies. The poster was designed and handscreened by Chapel Hill NC poster artist Ron Liberti and is super-limited. (Also, we have a few 2009 “classic” shirts left, and they are on sale right now too)

* Record Store Day has appointed a new Ambassador for 2010, and you should see what he has to say. Fireworks just started here in Berlin, tonight’s gonna be a long night .. and the last party in 2009. the last party is also our last podcast this year, an 80 something minutes mix recorded a few hours ago. Many great vinyls were released in 2009 on labels like Delsin, Ostgut, & Rush Hour to name a few. Some of my favorite pieces are on the track list.
