Hi to all the Vinyl-Lovers!
1Posted by jelka | September 3, 2009Just to shortly introduce myself: My name is Jelka and I will support Guillaume now in providing you with news, facts and inspirations from the world of vinyl.
I truly love music since i was really small (as you can see on this pic from the ‘pre-digital-era’)! I’m really into everything urban, from so called ‘Ghetto Bass’ or ‘Global Bass’ to HipHop, Dancehall, Dubstep, Soca, Garage, Funky etc etc (listen to my mate Tim Turbo’s weekly TTT podcast to get an impression of what I’m talking about). In short, I like it bassy and bubbely.
That’s why I worked for a couple of musicrelated companies in the past, including doing press work for the electronic music festival Juicy Beats and (between getting my master degree in art history and starting with my first job) taking internships at online-label Faluma (my recommendation if you like caribbean music) and booking agency Subotage (same for real dope HipHop). Beside blogging for VKMP3 I work as a Manager and Blogger for West Berlin Gallery and before that I used to work for Circleculture as a PR Assistant.
Personally for me it’s an interesting challenge to write about this whole vinyl stuff – one the one hand the music I usually listen to depends in large parts on the use of digital media, on the other hand you couldn’t imagine it without all the record sampling and djing experiments that HipHop once invented. I’m looking forward to get a lot of inspiration out of this and I’m really happy I got the opportunity to do this.
If you would like to know more about me, you’re welcome to follow my private twitter. For all recommendations, questions etc around VKMP3 just drop me a line :)
