New rotary mixer from Japan

Long time I haven’t seen a new mixer that excites me … actually it’s been ages but lately I found out there’s a company in Japan making their own mixer. Alpha Musique is well known for repairing & refurbishing original Urei 1620′s in Japan. They studied the legend inside and out & I would guess the sound of the Model-4100 Music Mixer is very close to the original Urei 1620.

Here is some more pictures of the mixer:

The design might look too simple maybe for nowadays hype djs. Our opinion is mixers should do one job, mix. I don’t think it should have tone controls for instance. You want a change in tone? Use an EQ, isolator, crossover, effector or whatever. Best sound systems are modular.

Alpha Musique Model-4100 Music Mixer sales in Japan for about 2000€. Kinda pricey for a company making a mixer the first time but if it sound good then I would say reasonable.

They also make a crossfader for the 1620, as well as phone and line preamps, nice!
