Illusions

Posted by | November 24, 2008

Illusions

An illusion is a distortion of the senses, revealing how the brain normally organizes and interprets sensory stimulation. While illusions distort reality, they are generally shared by most people. Illusions may occur with more of the human senses than vision, but visual illusions, optical illusions, are the most well known and understood. The emphasis on visual illusions occurs because vision often dominates the other senses.

Some illusions are based on general assumptions the brain makes during perception. These assumptions are made using organizational principles, like Gestalt, an individual’s ability of depth perception and motion perception, and perceptual constancy. Other illusions occur because of biological sensory structures within the human body or conditions outside of the body within one’s physical environment.

The term illusion refers to a specific form of sensory distortion. Unlike a hallucination, which is a distortion in the absence of a stimulus, an illusion describes a misinterpretation of a true sensation. listen & Enjoy!

Vinyl is a pain in the ass!

Posted by | November 18, 2008

I’m not sure what to think of Ritchie Hawtin last interview in slices. (see the video below)

I do very much respect his carrier, I do think the way he develops Minus is very clever & I do appreciate Minus release 12′. I think it’s important major labels keep releasing records. Remember you roots, keep it deep!

Beware! this mixer makes people crazy

Posted by | November 17, 2008

I remember the first time I plugged in this mixer, ouch!

A moment ago a very close friend, probably my best friend, who’s now running a cool dj shop in Paris among other activities told me he got an old but amazing second hand mixer for sale. Urei 1620 he said. I immediately googled it and the first video I found is the one below. This made me laugh a lot at first but also somehow catched my attention so I decided to check this funky stuff the next day, very curious but also very sceptical, especially when I saw how basic the unit looks like. So we plugged it very quickly in the studio and played a few 12′, and wow! In love at first kick! Read more
